2015 Year in Review
Unfortunately mother nature didn't agree with our plans for our first few events, but the rest of the year was great.
In May, families gathered at the Aqaurium of the Smokies, followed by snacks and an unplanned trip the Sugarlands Visitor center and a leisurely walk to Cataract Falls.
June was our annual Dragon Boat Festival. The kids designed their own dragon boats for racing down the river at Metcalf Bottoms in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
The Smokey Mountains was the theme for warm weather activities. In July, families went Tubing followed by a camping trip to Cades Cove.
September was our annual Moon Festival. Again, the weather wasn't so good, but the Moon did make an appearance before our night ended. Families brought pot luck dished to share. The kids made their own lanterns, listened to a popular story followed by their lantern parade thru The Cove at Concord Park. The Large Sky Lanterns were a hit again this year.
As the weather cooled down, we made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. Families loaded the wagon for a trip the pumpkin patch. Armed with pumpkins, we made our way back. Some ventured through the corn maze while others toured the barn, bounced on the giant air pillow or went down a 80 foot slide.
The Liebenow's hosted a Halloween Party for families. Everyone brought snacks to share and enjoyed the evening together.
As this year comes to a close, it is great to look back at all we have done as a group. The connection we have as families is unlike any other.
The board will beginning planning events for 2016 soon.
